VITAMIN E AND STABILITY

When our scientists first investigated the properties of Kalahari Melon Oil they discovered that it possessed a naturally powerful and uniquely potent combination of two key properties; vitamin E and essential fatty acids (70% linoleic acid).

Our Kalahari Melon Oil naturally possesses higher
vitamin E levels than any other plant oil.

Upon further scientific investigation we discovered that our oil naturally contains incredibly high levels of vitamin E (a concentration of 2800 mg/kg to be exact). That is five times more vitamin E compared with argan oil and approximately ten times more compared with marula oil. In fact, our Pure Kalahari Melon Oil naturally possesses the highest vitamin E levels compared to any other plant oil. Our scientists have yet to discover another natural cosmetic oil that can match it…

This incredibly high vitamin E content means that our facial oil possesses naturally powerful antioxidant properties, which protect your skin against oxidative stress by neutralising free radicals (unstable molecules in the environment that damage your skin’s cellular DNA). This protective function slows down the signs of premature skin aging, such as the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E benefits your skin barrier directly too, by locking in moisture and preventing transepidermal water loss (TEWL) - a process where moisture escapes from your skin’s surface.

What most people don’t know is that when vitamin E is present in such high levels it functions as a natural preservative. This is an important quality for an oil to possess as most natural oils contain other active components, which are generally unstable by themselves and require the addition of preservatives. Our facial oil is completely free of artificial preservatives owing to its rich vitamin E content, which naturally stabilises and preserves the essential fatty acids within the oil for longer, ensuring sustained activity on your skin. This unique combination of vitamin E and essential fatty acids crowns our Pure Kalahari Melon Facial Oil as a hero pairing ingredient for your routine.

It’s important to note that synthetic vitamin E is often used as a preservative in cosmetic skincare products. You will often see it last on the ingredient list under it’s INCI name,  tocopherol or sometimes tocopherol acetate.
